Address Book Menu Plug-In: Birthday Scripts

One more for the Address Book!

Apple's own sample menu plug-in (scroll down a little, where it says Action Plug-in)that displays the age of a person in the birthday menu has an error. Here is the fixed script.

The I wrote a little plug-in that will display the zodiac of a person.

Click on the links to open the scripts in Script Editor (Mac OS X 10.3 Panther required). Then save the scripts in ~/Library/Address Book Plug-Ins or /Library/Address Book Plug-Ins.

Note #1: Address Book displays the plug-ins in alphabetical order, so if you name the first one age.scpt and the second one zodiac.scpt the order should make sense.

Note #2: Providing the AppleScripts through links does not work if the script code contains higher-ascii or even unicode characters. So German Users should replace the diacriticals (Umlaute) in Löwe and Schütze.

Note #3: (May 2004)I now have a single script which dynamically determines the language. If you can provide the names of the zodiac in other languages, then I will add other languages. For now English and German are supported.
